Warning--This POST contains TMI

This post contains a little of this and a little TMI........after a debate with myself for almost a week I finally decided this past weekend to let the DH know that I was a little disappointed in our V-Day evening.  What I thought was going to be an evening of a nice home cooked meal followed by the movie V-Day (after the little one went to bed) ended up as an evening of a semi-nice meal (timing was off a little on part so this is totally my fault) and the DH downstairs watching college basketball.  All the while I am upstairs watching whatever random thing I could find within the 400+ boob tube channels and trying to get in a little exercise.  Don't get me wrong, this didn't make me mad, it made we wonder where had our relationship gone. (and, yes mom, all is fine)  I like college basketball.  However I do not like to watch it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, nor was it what I thought we would watch that particular evening.  So after much debate with myself I casually made the remark that I was disappointed with our evening and I'd be purchasing something nice for myself the following week to make up for it. WINK WINK
Ah, That should get his attention!  Come to find out he was just as disappointed as I was, or so he says...I really think he just agreed to keep me from shopping!  =0)  So with all the crazy things going on in life don't forget about that person that walks beside you in life daily.  Most likely if you're feeling uneasy about something they are too!  So instead of that delicious looking lens you see pictured above I'm sure my purchase will still be delicious but will look something like this instead.....

Love ya babe!

Now for a little funny news and TMI......I've been debating whether or not I want to use my children's real names in the blog or come up with nick names for them.  In picking up our son yesterday I asked him if I could call him "naughty boy?"  He looks at me with one eye brow raised and says
Mom, my name is Alex.
So can I call you "naughty Alex?"
No, my name is Alex, just call me Alex, he exclaims.
OK OK I say.  I get it your name is Alex.  We continue home, follow our routine.  He grabs an iPhone or iPad and plops on the couch to play game or watch a show for a bit and I start the normal dinner prep, house pick up, mail sort, blah blah blah.  Oops, mom needs to go do some business.  So off to the restroom I go.  (We all go potty, don't act like you don't)  Mean while there is a little voice screaming from the other room that he needs a drink in his cup.  After 5-6 screams I scream back I'll be there in a minute.  Then I hear little feet.  He's looking for me.  Ah, he found me.
I need a drink in my cup, he says
Yes, I will get it in a minute.  As he turns to leave I realize there's not enough TP.  So I ask him if he could please get mommy some toilet paper.
Shore, he says
Upon his return, with a puzzled look on his face he says
Mom, Did you poop?
Nope I say.  He looks puzzled again and says
but we don't wipe when we pee.........????
Well boys don't but girls do, I explain.

Oh yeah, I know and walks out of the room.

See I told you it was TMI, but it was funny.
Til next time!

Menopause or Global Warming?

The past 10 days we have experienced temps ranging from 20-75 degrees.  With a dip in temperatures again this week it has left me a little befuddled in what is really going on here.  So I ask you is this a case of a Menopausal Mother Nature or is it really all part of  Global Warming ?  I, myself, have to go with Menopausal Mother Nature.  After all we really aren't breaking many temperature records, which tells me this has been going on for quite some time.  And what woman in her right mind would call this weather "nurturing"?

Should I continue.........

Hmmm, Let me first start with this thought.  There are few persons whom I've directed to get automatic emails when I post.  I have received great feedback on my posts, yet I have no followers??????  Sometimes I just don't understand my family & friends but I wouldn't trade them for the world.  Maybe if I cut them off from the auto emails they will get curious and come find me.  Until then I guess I'll just keep talking to myself!

Bedtime continues to be a struggle with our little one. Last night he told my hubby that he couldn't go to bed because the ants would crawl up and get him.  You would think that being a little boy he would like bugs, but oh no, he is just the opposite.  He runs from them.

Recently he has started having growing pains so we must put the "magic wash cloth" on his leg to minimize the pain.  I'm still really not sure if it truly hurts or if this is just another excuse for him to wonder down the hall because
Mom, I need to tell you something
Either way the "plain jane wash cloth" that we have been laying on his leg is doing the trick.

A few nights ago we went thru the same routine of trying anything to get out of bed and not go to sleep.  I explained to him that he was not allowed to get out of bed anymore unless he needed to potty or it was an emergency.  I continued on with what I was doing and a few minutes later I hear him talking.  I listened & the hubby went to see what he was doing.  Sitting in his bed,  waving his body from side to side, singing his first and last name.  He just looked at him and smiled.

While playing Cover Orange the other night he was yawning.  Of course, I asked him if he was tired.  His response
No, Mom. My mouth is just getting bigger, like yours
I'm not sure where these statements are derived from but they sure are entertaining.  Funny thing is had someone else made that statement to me I might have been offended. I really need to set my camera up on a tripod with a shutter release so capture these silly faces that are made with these comments.

We contemplated enrolling him in rec soccer this past month and decided that he should probably go thru a tots kicking class first.  Unfortunately the closest class available until he turns 3 1/2 is 20+ miles away from our home.  So we are still in debate on whether or not to join.  Any who, the hubby says to him last night
can you hurry up and turn 4 so we can play some soccer or better yet can you pretend that your 4?", in which Alex responds "shore, I can."  The hubby says "so when they ask how old you are what are you going to say" Alex responds "this many" (holding up 3 fingers)
You probably had to of been there, but it was another priceless moment!

Well since I've been rambling to myself for 20 minutes I suppose I should go do something productive!  Til next time!

Change is good

The past few days several thoughts have ran through my mind about this blog.  Since there are always different thoughts running through my mind and I see this blog going beyond it's initial point of start up I have changed the name.  It's not as catchy as I'd like it to be but it will work for now.  I want to post a few things from this past weekend but I don't have alot of time right now so I hope to catch up later this week!  Enjoy the beautiful weather we are getting and I am currently taking volunteers to clean my car!  =)

Night Time Games

Lately we've been fighting to find just the right bedtime routine for the little guy.  Let's just say every night is an adventure.  I'm sure it's just his age and in time it will pass.  At least we get a good laugh each night at the new things he comes up with.  And since laughter is good for the soul I'll take all I can get, for now anyway!
Currently the routine is pretty simple, bathe, teeth, and he gets a few minutes of TV before lights out.  Then starts the drama.....a few things we hear are:
I need a drink
I need to go potty
Can you come here for a second? (and how can you deny that sweet little voice)
I need to tell you something......then stares at you with a blank look on his face when you ask what it is he needs to tell you.
My knee hurts, along with several other body parts if that one doesn't get your attention. =)
This past week I was called because there was an issue with Buzz Lightyears space hood....it wouldn't shut all the way and Buzz couldn't sleep like that.  Well turns out a little piece of the plastic was broke so after 5 minutes we finally convinced him Buzz would be able to go to sleep and we would check on him shortly. Finally everyone went to sleep, including Buzz.

Alex loves to play with either one of our iPhones or the iPad. We have loaded games and movies just for him.  My DH jokes that he can work the gadgets better that he can!  Sometimes he's right.  =)  One favorite game is Cover Orange.  The object of the game is to cover the orange(s) and protect them from the cloud that drops acid rain.  It is actually a good little game that teaches logic.  He plays for a while until he gets stuck than asks me to help him.   Last night we played for a bit and I was moving some of the objects around, he was telling me that I was doing it wrong.  Hmmm, you asked me for help right???  Well turns out he was right, and I ended up getting the "See, I told ya so."  Ok, smarty pants.

The sun is shining bright today! Something we haven't seen for a while so we are off to play for the weekend.  Have a great weekend and Valentines!

A couple of funnies from this past week

So I've already determined that I am going to have to make notes to myself to remember all the off the wall things my kids say or do.  Here are a few from this past week.

Unfortunately last week our little boy had a terrible cough that just wouldn't quit so I took him to the doctor.  While entering the exam room the nurse looks @ him and says "Hi Sweetie".  He sternly looks at her and says "my NAME is ALEX."  The look on her face was one I will probably never forget.  She was apparently shocked by his response and replies to him "So sorry Alex I won't call you sweetie anymore."
A few days later my DH had to take our daughter in for a re-check on an injured ankle, as they proceed down the hall to the exam room our son screams out to the nurse, "Hey, I'm not sick anymore!"  As you will see thru these posts our little guy is quite the character.
As for our daughter, well she's a teenager.  That should about sum it up.  =)  Anyway, yesterday was yet another snow day for us.  She stayed home and graciously did her chores so she could earn some spending $$ for the upcoming weekend.  She was home ALL day minus a 2 hour lunch with her BF.  Before I left for work I loaded the crock with chili and turn it on to simmer all day.  Not 5 minutes after I walked in the door, she greeted me and asked me what was for dinner??????  WTH???  You were here all day...........you did the dishes, I'm sure you got a drink, yet you didn't notice the crock pot of chili?  While I found it to be a little irritating at the time and responded "you really need to open you eyes more to your surroundings" within a few minutes I was laughing inside because this is who she is.  I can only hope she grows out of this stage.

A Blog is Born

Well here we go.  I'm giving this blog idea a shot.  I can't promise frequent updates.  However it is my goal to update at least once a week.  I guess I'll start with how this idea came about.  We are very privledged to have 2 beautiful children that continually keep us on our toes.  They are 15 & 3.  I know you're probably thinking what were we thinking!  So a little bit about me.  I am happily married to my best friend.  With this new best friend came a beautiful little 5 1/2 year old girl.  I wasn't completely sure I was ready for children however after our first lunch date @ Wendy's I fell in love!  So blah blah blah, dated, became a mom to this wonderful little girl, got married, lived life and 2007 we were blessed with our little guy.  I've spent the last 3 years raising these wonderful children, being a wife, working full time, and actively persuing a photography hobby.
Over the past 2 years I've listened to our little guy say some funny, off the wall, intense things and since I am terrible at keeping up his baby book, or any type of journal for our daughter, my hope is that this blog will turn into a small record of what I see everyday with our children.  And give everyone a small laugh in the process.
So welcome to my blog.  I hope I don't ramble and I hope I can keep this updated!  See you soon.
